The third Parish at Singasandra— St. John’s Malankara Catholic Church was established on 23^rd October 2005 under the leadership of Fr. Koshy Kakkanatt. This Parish today has over 100 families, consisting of many young IT professionals.

A word of special thanks is recorded here to Moran Mor Cyril Baselios Catholicos of happy memory, Bishop Geevarghese Mar Divannasious, Bishop Jacob Mar Barnabas and also Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos for the overall growth of the Malankara Church in Bangalore with their whole hearted support and blessings.

The history of the Malankara Catholic Church in Bangalore will be incomplete unless we acknowledge the outstanding contributions of laity leaders in establishing these three Churches. They are late K.G. Mathew (Mathikere), late Thomas Varghese (Singasandra), late PCK Tharakan(Hennur) and late C T Simon Bar EthoKashiro(Hennur). We pay our respects and pray for the departed souls. We also acknowledge the wonderful services rendered from time to time by other laity leaders viz. S/Shri Jacob Thomas IAS (Retd.Chief Secretary of UP and former Chairman Port Trust, Kochi), P K Cheriyan, Thankachan Thomas, S R Byju and T M Verghese Thangalathil etc. There are many others, including the departed ones, whose names could not be mentioned here for want of space. I also had the opportunity to involve myself in the services and participated in different roles in my humble way. Thank God. The Bangalore Malankara Church is proud of the social services rendered by our members Dr. Mercy Sabu, recipient of Indira Gandhi Sadhbhavana Award by the Govt. of India, Shri P K Cheriyan, recipient of the Kempegowda Award by the BBMP (Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation) and Shri S R Byju recipient of the International Business Excellence Award from Global Achievers Foundation for individual excellence, Colombo in recognition of the sterling performance and outstanding contribution to the progress of the nation.

The Bangalore Parishes were under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Bathery until the ETRI set-up came into force in March 2007 and thereafter taken care by the ETRI Bishop Jacob Mar Barnabas. We also had the support of the Archdiocese of Bangalore. With the establishment of the new Diocese of Gurgaon – Delhi and the Exarchate of Khadki – Pune we have now come under the jurisdiction of the new Exarchate where Bishop Thomas Mar Anthonios is the Ex-Arch.We look forward for the glorious period of the Malankara Catholic Church and there is a long way to go. We thank once again the Almighty and beseech His abundant blessings.
