History |
The establishment of the second Parish – St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church at Hennur on 19th December 1999 was a milestone in the ecclesiastical life and growth of the Bangalore community. The purchase of land at Hennur was possible with the tiresome efforts of Fr. Abraham Thalothil of erstwhile Arch Diocese of Trivandrum in 1997 supported by the then Vicar Fr. Sebastian Keepally and Very Rev. Thomas ThannikakuzhyCor-Episcopa in his capacity as Vicar General of the Diocese of Bathery. The first Chapel here was constructed under the leadership of Fr. Benny Panachiparampil. The Parish community had to undergo lot of legal hurdles and financial crisis, but by the grace of God and through the intercession of Mother Mary, and also with the whole hearted support of the Malankara faithful and others, irrespective of caste and creed, the beautiful Church was reconstructed under the leadership of Fr. James Charuvilayil and consecrated on 8th March 2014 by Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholico sand ETRI Bishop Jacob Mar Barnabas. Today the Church stands as a pride for the entire Malankara Catholic Church and as a landmark on the Bangalore Ring Road. The relics of St. Alphonsa have also been placed in the Church. This Parish has got 94 families. |
